18 August 1880: ‘Creech St Michael. The first meeting of the Creech Athletic Society was held on Friday afternoon, in a field called ‘Cowleaze’, belonging to Mr Fry of that place, who also took a prominent part in the management. Mr Somerville officiated as umpire, and Mr Fry, jun., as starter.
