That the growing disturbances in India have been closely followed was indicated by the interest shown in Mr Hoyland’s talk on March 2nd, and that shown in the distinguished strangers’ debate on March 29th. Mr J. P. Fletcher proposed and Mr J. W. Graham opposed the immediate granting of dominion status to India. The debate was very well followed, and when the house divided the opposition were victorious by a majority of 15.
