Folkerthorpe, Yorkshire

1614: Manuscript copy, made c1820?, of the 1614 visitation pedigree of the ancestry of Henry Akeroyd of Folkerthorpe, with some additional genealogical notes. At the head of the pedigree is ‘Richard Akeroyd of Heptynbrigg [Hebden Bridge] in the County of York descended from Akeroyd of Akeroyd near Halifax about the first year of Henry the Seventh [1485-6]’. His grandson Henry Akeroyd of Folkerthorpe is shown as marrying Ann Slater of Willesdon. Their son John married Alice daughter and heir of Thomas Draper of Broadbottom near Wadsworth. Their daughter Sarah married Thomas Bennet of York merchant; Ann married John Briggs; S. married Thomas Proctor of Grays Inn; Elizabeth married Robert Etherent; Jane married William son of Thomas Herbert of York alderman; and Henry Akeroyd of Folkenthorpe married Ellen daughter of Richard Staveley of Thomondley.
