15 June 1894: Local Yachting News, Cowes. It is a noteworthy fact that nearly all the large yachts built this year are commanded by Cowes skippers, which is surely a substantial recognition of the skill and general character of our yacht captains. Captain T. Derham commands Erl King, s.y., 530 tons, built from designs by Mr St Clare Byrne, at Messrs Ramage & Fergusson’s, Leith, for Major Alexander H. Davis.
