April 1925: Heaviley School: The Football section promoted a Whist Drive and Dance on Thursday, March 12, at the New Hall, Duke Street. At the close the whist prizes were presented to the successful players by Mrs S. Heaward. The chairman of the Sports Club, Mr J. E. Marchington, thanked all who had assisted towards the success of this effort.
Heaviley School: The Annual Meeting held on Saturday, February 21, was well attended. The usual sumptuous tea was served by the Ladies’ Committee, “bless them”, after which the meeting commenced in real earnest. Mr Stewart was in the chair. Various literary, humorous, and dramatic reports were read. The respective school officers sat resplendent in the Treasury Benches, looking serious and important while matters of national urgency were debated. There was a buzz of excitement when the officials and committees were elected. The various officers remain as last year with the exception of School Secretary. We are pleased to say that our esteemed colleague, Mr Harold Marchington, takes up this important office with all the emoluments (?) which the position carries with it. The meeting terminated pleasantly about 10 p.m.’
